I arrived home a couple hours ago from a lovely weekend away with a friend. We went to Frankenmuth, Michigan. Frankenmuth, is known as Little Bavaria, with the most authentic Bavarian architecture in America. It's famous for it's food, especially Zehnder's Chicken dinners and Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. We apparently picked a good time to go, the weather was perfect, cold but no wind so it didn't feel very cold, dressing properly was the secret. The hotel was clean and close to everything and there was a Snowfest festival going on all weekend. There was some beautiful snow and ice scuptures displayed throughout the entire town. We did some shopping and more shopping, found a quilting shop (of course), and I purchased some more fabric for my Indian Orange Peel quilt. We had some delicious dinners, melt in the mouth prime rib and one of Zehnders Chicken entrees.
I also bought myself a gift, do you want to see her? She is called "Sew Angel" isn't she beautiful?
It was a bit more than I was planning on spending, but I'm worth don't you think. Can't you tell that I am trying to convince myself and you that it was OK to spend these $$$'s on something so frivolous.
What do you think?
Hope you all had a good weekend.

Is that a Jim Shore????? Beautiful....and soooooo worth it!!! Glad you had a good time!
my mom got me a Jim Shore Quilting Bee for Christmas, I love his work. yours is beautiful. Where are you going to display her?
You definitely deserve it. How often do we do that for ourselves? Instead of feeling any guilt over the purchase, write the date in the bottom of it, and think of this sweet angel as a reminder of your good visit you had with your friend. It is a much more tasteful souvenir than some mug that says "MICHIGAN", lol.
Hugs, pokey
You most definitely deserve such a pretty piece. We all need to be frivolous at times and she will surely give you much pleasure. It sounds as if you really had a good time.
Hi Particia, I love your snow angel, I am sure you deserve her. I don't know how you live with all that snow for such a long time, I hate it. Thank you for your kind comments about my embroidery, I love doing it and this one will go on a crazy patchwork quilt.
Love Jillx
Nice little knick knack . Bluebell and myself went out today . I very nearly bought 15 pieces of country diary pottery for £15 the trader wanted to get rid of , but , it was if I could hear my sons saying "don,t you dare"--cottonreel
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Jim Shore's stuff, and that is just gorgeous....
